




Optometrist
Dr. Kim was born and raised in Maui, Hawaii. He discovered his passion for eye care at a young age while working as an Optometric Technician during his early education in high school and college. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Pacific University, Oregon, and went on to complete his Doctorate of Optometry at Pacific University College of Optometry.

Dr. Kim was born and raised in Maui, Hawaii. He discovered his passion for eye care at a young age while working as an Optometric Technician during his early education in high school and college. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Pacific University, Oregon, and went on to complete his Doctorate of Optometry at Pacific University College of Optometry.
Dr. Kim completed his clinical training with honors at Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute, the Lebanon Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Pennsylvania, and Kaiser Permanente. His professional career began in Maui County, Hawaii, where he gained extensive experience managing ocular diseases, and often traveled to provide eye care to the rural and underserved areas of Hana and Lanai.
Dr. Kim is passionate about providing high-quality care, utilizing the latest cutting-edge technologies to achieve the best outcomes for his patients. His professional interests include ocular disease care, dry eye treatment, and custom specialty lenses such as scleral lenses and orthokeratology. He frequently attends educational conferences to stay current with the latest research and advancements. He has also volunteered at the Seattle/King County Clinic and the Lions Club to provide accessible eye care and eyewear to those in need.
He is a member of Vision Source, the American Optometric Association, and Optometric Physicians of Washington. In his free time, Dr. Kim enjoys golfing, skiing, snowboarding, traveling, and reading.

Dr. Katy Tan was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with Honors at the University of British Columbia, and completed her Doctorate of Optometry at Pacific University College of Optometry. Throughout her education, Dr. Tan consistently excelled, earning Beta Sigma Kappa honors and graduating with distinction. She has served as a member of the college admissions board, and a clinical skills mentor for students.
“My passion for Optometry began when I saw my younger sister undergo orthokeratology treatment for her progressive myopia. Witnessing the remarkable advancements in eye care and the transformative impact on her vision and eye health deeply inspired me. I am committed to actively listening to my patients, understanding their unique visual needs, and providing the most effective treatment solutions available.”
Dr. Katy Tan was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Tan completed her clinical training with honors in diverse settings, including the Veteran Affairs Medical Center, refractive surgery centers, and private practices across Oregon and Idaho. Before moving to Washington, she gained extensive experience working in private practice in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Beyond her professional practice, Dr. Tan is committed to public service and making high-quality care more accessible. She has volunteered abroad with VOSH International, and has traveled to Cambodia to provide eye care to underserved, rural communities. Closer to home, she has supported local charitable organizations such as the Lions Club, and the Seattle/King County Clinic.
Dr. Tan is a member of Vision Source, the American Optometric Association, and Optometric Physicians of Washington. Her professional interests include ocular disease care, dry eye treatment, and myopia management. Outside of her practice, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling to new destinations, and exploring new foods.

Dr. Kathy Nguyen was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, and earned her Doctorate of Optometry at Pacific University College of Optometry. Her clinical training was completed at Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Alaska, a large Ophthalmology practice in New Jersey, and the Lexington Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Kentucky.
“My deep commitment to optometry is founded on the integral role that vision plays in our quality of life. I continually strive to optimize, preserve and protect my patients’ sight through the lenses of shared-decision making and the integration of advanced technology and science. The eyes are the lamp to the body and I believe that vision is more than seeing clearly, it is a gateway to overall well-being.”

Dr. Nguyen went on to complete an Optometric Residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at Kaiser Permanente in Tacoma, Washington. She then practiced on Vancouver Island, providing comprehensive eye care in private practice while also traveling to remote First Nations communities. After several years, she relocated back to Seattle to be closer to her husband’s roots in the area.
Beyond her time in clinic, Dr Nguyen is dedicated to public service and has volunteered abroad with VOSH International to Costa Rica and China. While in China, she led a team of Doctors and students and collaborated with the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, one of the most prestigious eye hospitals in China. Dr. Nguyen has also contributed to the field of Optometry through research, authoring multiple conference posters presented at the American Academy of Optometry.
In her free time, Dr. Nguyen loves to spend time exploring the hiking trails and local eats in the Seattle metro area, cooking and reading.
